One thing I've realized is that, no matter how hard I may try, no matter the quality of my suggestions, no matter the strength of my reason, no matter how intelligently I present my argument; there are still men who would proudly uphold the philosophy that women are inferior to men, and sadly there are women who proudly subscribe to such philosophy too.
Of course I do respect your opinion, but that doesn't mean that I agree with you necessarily. What concerns me more is the fact that some people even quote the scriptures out of context to support their claims, especially the women! One of such scriptures is Gen 3:16b "...and he shall rule over you"
Let's perform a little surgery on this, shall we? First of all let me ask you a simple question; was there any reference made here about the man being superior to the woman? Clearly there isn't! Secondly, do you realize that verse 16 alone reads "unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shall bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy HUSBAND, and he shall rule over you"
Now that's more like it, isn't it? Notice the word in capital letters, "Husband". Do you see that the phrase "and he shall rule over you" was used in the context of a husband ruling over his wife, and not a man ruling over a woman? There's a difference! One more thing; let's not forget that this was even a curse and not a blessing. Its a pronouncement that God made to the woman due to Adams disobedience. So God who is just, was simply pronouncing the consequence of man's action.
Let me use an analogy here to explain what I'm saying. How many of you know Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf? Of course most of you know her. She's the 24th and current President of Liberia. She has spent her years challenging the "powerful" men who run African politics. And guess what; she's doing a great job!
When it comes to civil authority, she's the head of her husband, because in this context, she's leading him not as a husband, but as a citizen. But when it comes to the affairs of the family, her husband still remains her head, and she must consistently submit to his authority, as she always has even before she became the President.
If there's one thing that the 21st Century has taught us, its that; women can truly do exceedingly greater than the expectations and barriers that culture has set. We have women today who compete in all kinds of sports and even break records that were initially set by men, we have women who run for political offices and aspire for great leadership positions without fear and intimidation from men, we have women who have risen to the rank of military generals! we have women who own multi-million dollar corporations and companies that are excelling tremendously, we have women who run mighty enterprises of international standard, we have women who have risen to the peak of their career in education, we have women who are pilots, lawyers, architects, doctors, you name it! In simple terms, women are really changing the world for good!
Should I be intimidated as a man because women are doing what God has designed them to do? I don't think so! My mother is a woman too, and I have two beautiful sister who are women. And by the grace of God I'm going to get married to a woman! And when I do, I pray that God gives me two beautiful baby girls who will look just like their mother!
I will do all that I can to make sure that my woman becomes a blessing to her generation. Beyond the obligations of a wife, she's equally a visionary too, and she deserves the right to contribute her unequaled gifts the society. My daughters will never grow up with the mentality of feeling inferior to any man, just because she's a woman. God forbid!
Every woman deserves equal opportunity to contribute to the society. Vision has no gender, neither does Faith. God did not the design the woman as an inferior being to the man; he only designed her differently, to suit His eternal purpose here on earth.
